What’s it like to be a student at Lytle’s Beauty College?

Starting a new school can be scary, starting a new career even scarier. Here’s what our latest Cosmetology classes had to say about their first few weeks here at Lytle’s Beauty College.

“Coming in, I had no idea what to expect. Not being from Santa Rosa and not knowing anyone that was going to be in my class made me extremely nervous. I arrived 45 minutes early (very glad I did) and got to calm myself down before I came in. When I did come in to class Fari greeted me and made me feel very comfortable. When we all got clocked in and ready to go it was silent and all I could think was; it’s always going to be like this and I’m going to make no friends”. I was very wrong! Once we started looking through our books and the day went on it all got much more comfortable. I honestly feel that if we didn’t have Fari it would be very hard to feel as comfortable as we do. She is the most accepting teacher I have ever had, I love her!”

– Hailey D.

” I was a little overwhelmed at first but after the first weeks I was very happy. Our Sophomores were so inviting and were also helpful. My first test I didn’t use the tools I was told to use and didn’t do so well but after I started using the online learning and other tolls we were given I did much better. I loved the color chapter and even though wrapping a perm isn’t something I would like to do everyday, I still enjoyed it that chapter as well. Fari is so helpful and kind. She makes me want to be interested in what I am learning. Sonny was helpful during finals by making it easy to explain the steps for each application. I am very happy here and that I can for the first time say, I love what I am learning about! Fari is a wonderful teacher and makes you feel like no questions is a dumb question.”

– Madison G.

” My first day was very exciting but a bit nerve wracking at first. Once class started I was more calm because the staff is really welcoming and comforting. The Sophomores in the class were also really nice and helpful. After all the typical first day of school stuff it was really cool diving right into theory and manicuring. I think it’s really great that there’s a lot of hands on learning and it made me really excited and anxious (in a good way) to go through schooling here at Lytle’s. “

– Cynthia C.

” My first 6 weeks was awesome! My Sophomores were super welcoming as well as helpful with any questions I had. I was never afraid to ask the teacher of fellow students any questions.

I was afraid mostly for the tests but Fari goes over the material so much during the week that it is pretty munch ingrained your mind by the time the test comes along.

The best part is learning in an environment where everyone wants to grow ass well as see everyone else grow. Everyone always has a positive attitude.”

“I was pretty nervous the first day of school, being a new experience and all, but as time went on I met new people. Everyone, including the teachers and other staff are really nice. They make learning fun, which is good because otherwise I would not be able to retain all this information. I’m excited for where time will lead me.”

– Kaitlyn M.

“My first six weeks at Lytle’s has been amazing. My instructor, Fari, is very awesome at what she does and I can’t wait to continue these next six weeks and hit the floor with all the knowledge she has provided me with. I’m so glad I chose to come here, I couldn’t be happier with my decision and for what the future has in store for me.”

– Carsen F.

“My first day at Lytle’s was intense, fun, and exciting. Everyone has been so helpful and nice. I’m excited for this next year; having new experiences, friends, and challenges. The first day definitely kicked off what the next year will look like and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

– Hope C.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better first six weeks. Coming into it, I had no idea what to expect but it was wonderful. Fari has been an absolute delight to learn from and I couldn’t have gotten luckier with the classmates I’ve had; they’re all so friendly and helpful! Nobody wanted to see me fail and I didn’t thanks to them and Fari. I had a rad first six weeks and I wouldn’t change one thing about it.”

– Audrey R.

“So far I am really enjoying school. I love how it is hands on. You don’t just learn about things, you actually do it… 3 day’s in and we have given manicures, pedicures, and even started doing acrylics. The classmates seem awesome and easy going. I love the positive atmosphere and encouraging staff. Thank you.”

– Katie G.

“I thought my first 6 weeks were amazing! I love how easy, helpful, and nice Fari and the rest of the staff are. Perms were a pain but Fari and the Sophomores really helped out a lot, like a family, to get it done. I couldn’t have joined Lytle’s at a better time. Everyone here is just like a family member, always willing to jump in and help with whatever they can. Keep everything how it is because it’s a wonderful learning environment;you really can feel how much the staff cares and the effort they put into teaching us.”

– Eliana G.

“Of course, the first day was a little overwhelming, but I loved it. I already feel at home, like I belong here. The feeling of being welcomed by the other zones was amazing. Everyone I saw had smiles, a few even stepped up and offered help if ever I needed it. Listening to Kathy talk was amazing. She really makes me feel the love and passion for the industry and school. I have a nasty habit of second guessing myself or telling myself that I’m not good enough and just in these first few days I feel that I’ll be able to break this habit. I am looking forward to the days and months to come.”

– Leann G.

“First, I have to say that one of the main reasons I am having such a great time here is Fari (and Austin). They are the greatest people to be around and really make me feel comfortable here. I love the people I share a classroom with and already see life long friendships starting. This is the happiest I have ever been at a school!”

– Veronica C.

“I had a wonderful first day here at Lytle’s. The teachers, staff, and students were all very nice and welcoming. Fari makes you feel very comfortable and eases you into the routine and process of everything. I am overjoyed to now be a part of the Lytle’s community and feel I made the right decision in choosing this beauty college. I have especially loved the times when Kathy has come in to class for presentations. The information and reminders on treating each other with respect, etc. has really encouraged me to keep a positive attitude as well as expecting the same from others on the campus. I am super stoked to be here and for what’s to come.”

– Jordan G.

“My first day was wonderful, I was greeted by a full smile and felt extremely welcome. I walked up those steps eagerly waiting to meet and know my fellow classmates and start establishing the connection with my future friends. Then I was greeted by Kathy, the owner of the school, who smiled at our class. “Welcome to the first day of the rest of your lives!” she said as I thought to myself, I can’t wait to make a second home within these walls!.”
