Meet & Greet Monday: Kathleen Jo Lytle

Hey there, it’s another great day at Lytle’s. Today I want to share another little piece of us with you and help you get to know The Staff better, which is why this is called Meet & Greet Monday.

NAME: Kathleen Jo Lytle

1. How did you get started in this business?

The greatest mentor a girl can have, I got in my father. His life was changed by our industry and showed me this. From my beginning memories, I was saturated with his love of hair. One day he called to ask me to help him out in his new hair venture, Lytle’s Redwood Empire Beauty College. He wanted me to do some reception work for the school. Six month’s later I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my working career. I love doing and teaching HAIR!

2. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Watching and enjoying the joy and exuberance a student experiences when gaining a new plateau, whether it is a client or outcome of a service. It is a beautiful thing to be even a small part of someone finding their future. Let’s hear it for FINANCIAL FREEDOM!

3. What is the farthest distance you have traveled from home?

It depends on how I answer… Three months from coast to coast in a Dodge Dart seemed like the furthest I had ever been. Puerto Escondido, about 300 miles north of the southern Mexican border or maybe its farther to the Cayman Islands. Soon, it will be Fiji which will really be something. More adventures to come…

4. What is your favorite TV show?

This is embarrassing… I love CSI, reruns of Friends, National Geographic and all Science programs.

5. What does being the Owner and Director of a beauty college really mean?

When I bought the college from my dad I found a big beautifully wrapped box on my desk. I was so excited to see what he had given me. When I opened it there were old plumbing, construction, and repair tools. I was perplexed… He laughed and said ” Now, when something is broken they’ll call you!” It was funny to him at the time and now I get it. But seriously, it is an opportunity to be part of inspiring the next generation of people coming into the greatest industry in the world!

6. Would you rather read a book or watch the movie?

It depends on my mood, I love both.

7. You have just won the lottery, what now?

I would build the structure of my dreams for my beauty college, a 45 foot sail boat with crew, and sail 6 months on & 6 months off.

8. What would you do if you had a time machine?

I would visit Einstein.

9. What is your drink of choice?

I enjoy a non fat latte.

10. If today was your last day on earth what would you do?

I would be with family.
